“I Got a Problem With That”: Sherrone Moore Arrest Warrant Under Scrutiny as Judge Flags Incomplete Information

Former Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore’s case took a new turn on Tuesday after a judge granted a request for a hearing to learn more about the investigation in this case.

Moore joined Michigan in January 2024, and in December 2025, he was fired by the university for cause. The university found credible evidence against Moore and stated that he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Following the announcement, everything went haywire. Hours after being fired, Moore was arrested in Saline, Michigan, for an alleged assault. Later, he was also charged with felonious third-degree home invasion.

He is also charged with stalking and illegal entry after allegedly breaking into the apartment of the female staff member. The recent update in his case is a victory for Moore and his lawyer, Ellen Michaels, who is defending him against all charges.

Judge J. Cedric Simpson, during the court proceeding, expressed concern over the detective’s lack of disclosure about Moore’s employer-employee relationship with the woman.

In response to the lawyer of the female staff member, Simpson said:

“I got a problem with that, too,” he said. “Because part of the problem is, my understanding and maybe I’m wrong, but from listening to Miss Michael’s argument, I think I was right. She has the other text messages from those two days, right?”

“If I were the magistrate, I’m getting half the story,” Simpson added. “I’m not getting the full story.”

Simpson stated that the “defendant’s due process may have been violated” and has set a March 2 hearing to hear from police and other witnesses.

Sherrone Moore’s Lawyer Explained the Reason Behind His Calls and Messages

The female staff member with whom Moore was involved ended their personal relationship days before he was fired by the University of Michigan. Moore made dozens of calls and messages to her, which she didn’t respond to.

Moore’s lawyer, Michaels, stated that a head coach calling and texting an executive assistant while he prepared for a Bowl game with his team was reasonable.

“It’s not stalking if the communication has a legitimate purpose,” Michaels said.

She also accused the female staff member’s personal lawyer of trying to “villainize Mr. Moore and maximize the chances of obtaining a large settlement from the deep pockets of the University of Michigan.”

We’ll get more details on the matter on March 2, when police and other witnesses will be present in the court.
