The EA Sports college football 2027 video game had a few important coaches from it, including Miami Hurricanes’ Mario Cristobal, North Carolina’s Bill Belichick, and Colorado’s Deion Sanders.
While former Colorado star Travis Hunter was one of the three players on last year’s cover photo of the game, many fans and analysts wondered why Coach Prime wasn’t there in this year’s edition.
During the Big 12 media days, Sanders was asked why he is not in the game, to which he said that if he is not in a game, it is because they are not paying him well enough.
Reacting to the situation and how Coach Prime’s head coaching career is progressing at Colorado, Cam Newton said on his YouTube channel called “4th&1” on Friday:
“Everybody knows how much I love me some prime, but we have to say it how it needs to be said. The question was asked, why is he not in this year’s NCAA 27? And I say it like this. He keeps playing the way he plays, losing the way he loses. He’s not gonna be in next year’s game either. Because I’m telling you this, brother, we are in a performance-based environment. Now, now some would say, well, it ain’t like he at Alabama. It ain’t like he at Clemson or Georgia. He’s in a situation where Colorado ain’t never won since what, uh, Kordell Stewart. You know what I’m saying? That’s the last time. He brought more relevance to Colorado. He made Colorado more famous than Colorado did.
But this is where I’ve always stood with Prime. I don’t think Deion Prime Time Sanders is in the best situation as a head coach.”
Cam Newton Suggests a New Career for Deion Sanders
In the same episode of the “4th&1” show, Cam Newton elaborated on his statement that he believes Sanders isn’t in the best situation at Colorado.
Newton then added that he believes Sanders would be a perfect general manager, explaining that in today’s NIL climate, there is no one better than Coach Prime to manage players and expectations.
”See, Prime, it’s gotten to the point last year, the question marks have been, hey, he has battled with health, okay? He has battled with so many different deficiencies in the coaching staff. But it all falls back to him.” Newton said.
Newton further said he doesn’t think Coach Prime has it in him to be an overseer or someone who would focus on day-to-day operations.
