Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterback Arch Manning earned a massive win on Sunday, as they reportedly received the commitment from Auburn Tigers star receiver Cam Coleman from the transfer portal.
Coleman was the best receiver available in the portal. Despite Auburn’s well-known quarterback troubles, the sophomore managed 1,306 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 93 receptions. In 2025, Coleman caught 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns.
Fans reacted to this latest recruitment win in mixed fashion.
“Sark about to ruin another transfer wr career. Poor kid,” one fan commented.
“Holy overpay ! 🤣 Am I doing this right?” another fan reacted.
“This man must love losing to georgia 😭🤣” one fan added.
“Sark got 0 excuses this year. Another no playoffs and he might be out,” one fan wrote.
“Great addition for the city of Amarillo,” one fan added.
“Top receiver just switched teams,” one fan added.
“Bama fans thought he coming there 😂 hell naww dummies 🤣WDE!!!” one fan reacted.
Cam Coleman’s Commitment In Line With Steve Sarkisian’s Big Aims In Arch Manning’s Potential Final Season
Steve Sarkisian recorded three losses and thereby missed qualifying for the playoffs. Quarterback Arch Manning also didn’t have a great start as the starting quarterback, but his potential was there for everyone to see, given how he performed in the last few games of the regular season.
Sarkisian needed an elite receiver to make up for the offensive departures and adding Cam Coleman will help them a lot. Before entering the portal, Coleman was widely regarded as one of the top transfer wideouts in the country. Texas A&M and Alabama both showed interest in him before Texas took him under its nose.
Manning is not declaring for the 2026 NFL draft. He wants to return for another season in 2026, and this recruitment will only make him happy. Manning will be giving his all in what appears to be his final season in college football, as he wants to win the national championship with the Longhorns.
Sarkisian himself knows what is at stake, and he could be walking a thin rope if 2026 is anything similar to what happened in 2025.
