As Pat Fitzgerald and Brendan Fitzgerald know, spotlights shine brighter on football families. The Mannings and Watts are just one example. Another football family has emerged on the scene. Pat, who coaches Michigan State, will have his own potential Deion Sanders-like moment after welcoming his son, Brendan.
The announcement was made on Instagram in a Saturday post from the wide receiver. Per a Saturday 247Sports report, Brendan is set to join the team in 2027 as a preferred walk-on.
“committed 💯💯,” he posted.
Fans reacted to the post in droves with plenty of positive reactions.
“Big time. Go green,” one posted.
“Congrats Brendan!” another added.
“Let’s gooo,” one responded.
More fans reacted with positivity.
“Congrats brudda❤️,” one replied.
“Yessir fitzzzzz,” another added.
“Made it out the struggle,” one noted.
The pairing allows the wide receiver to help create another family-centric story, and if Michigan State takes off during his tenure, the situation becomes one of the biggest stories in college football. Before the Sanders family took over the Colorado Buffaloes, not much attention was given to the program. Today, the team and family are more famous than they ever have been.
Pat Fitzgerald Stays Mum on Social Media
While a post could always make its way out, Pat Fitzgerald didn’t rush to X to post any messages about the addition of his son to the future roster. Since June 1, Fitzgerald has reposted or posted more than a dozen times. However, there was no mention of his son joining Michigan State.
The majority of the posts appeared to hype up fans about the team, including reposts of other players who have committed. Fans will be waiting for Fitzgerald’s reaction, but even if the post does take place in a short time span, every minute he waits will raise questions.
Of course, even if he didn’t rush to social media to post his reaction, he will have plenty of reason to talk with his son behind closed doors to welcome him to the team. What was said, and how he really reacted to learning that out of every program that Brendan could have joined, he chose his father’s team.
