Having a famous dad can be both a blessing and a curse, as Gunner Rivers, the son of recently-retired (again) NFL great Philip Rivers, finally makes his decision on which college to go to. His decision has led him to NC State, where his father also went, picking it over other programs with much better records.
He had snubbed big programs like Miami, which is worth $604 million, as well as Auburn, Boston College and South Carolina, all of which had been gunning for Gunner before he chose dad Philip Rivers’ alma mater.
This has gotten many fans talking.
“He’s going to be better than Arch manning,” one fan claimed.
“Just like his old man.,” another person added.
“Man I heard Auburn was making a push for him.,” one fan noted.
“Kid is super talented but his recruitment was so quiet. I thought it would ramp up this summer,” said another person.
“Philip rivers will be hc after this year. Just watch,” one fan opined.
“Don’t think this’ll be the last Rivers to go to NC State,” reminded analyst Hayes Fawcett.

247Sports’ Andrew Ivins has noted that he plays like his dad, Philip Rivers and added that the younger Rivers has been good in limiting risks and can make good passes.
“Skilled passer with elite pedigree that has a chance to be a high-end distributor in college and beyond,” he said. “Enters final prep season with no shortage of reps having thrown for 10,181 yards and 111 touchdowns in three years.”
Gunner Rivers Confirms NC State Commitment With IG Post
Soon after it was announced that Philip Rivers’ son, Gunner, is going to the NC State Wolfpack, the four-star QB himself confirmed the news by sharing one of the posts on his Instagram Stories.

The younger Rivers also shared posts from other pages, thus confirming the commitment from the man himself.
By recruiting Gunner Rivers, NC State may have just secured their future, as he is considered one of the best quarterbacks from the Class of 2027. He is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, and is ranked No. 42 nationally and the No. 6 QB in the class. He is also the No. 1 player in Alabama.
