When Does Eileen Gu Compete Again? Schedule for Big Air and Halfpipe After Slopestyle Silver

After a gripping battle in the women’s freeski slopestyle final at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, Eileen Gu will shift her focus to the remaining events on her Olympic program.

Her pursuit of Olympic glory is far from over. She delivered a strong performance in the slopestyle final on Monday; however, Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud edged her out for gold by a narrow margin. Gremaud took first place with 86.96, while China’s Gu recorded 86.58. It was a repeat of the 2022 Beijing Games, where Gremaud edged out Gu by 0.33 points.

Slopestyle was only the opening act of Gu’s Olympic campaign, and she is set to feature in several other disciplines.

Gu’s next appearance will come in the high-octane Big Air competition, one of her strongest and most decorated disciplines.

Big Air was the event that first propelled Gu to global stardom at the Olympic level. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, she produced a historic performance to win gold, landing a daring double cork 1620 on her final run. That triumph made her the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Winter Olympics.

Beyond the Olympics, the 22-year-old has also dominated Big Air on the international circuit. She owns multiple World Cup victories in the event and also captured Big Air gold at the 2021 Aspen X Games.

Halfpipe has long been Gu’s signature discipline. At the Beijing Olympics, she delivered a near-flawless performance to win the gold medal. She also earned a gold medal in this event at the 2020 Lausanne Winter Youth Games, cementing her position in the sport.

Her achievements in halfpipe extend well beyond the quadrennial events. Eileen Gu is a multiple-time FIS World Cup overall halfpipe champion and won the 2021 World Championship title in the event.
