Mikaela Shiffrin Stands by Lindsey Vonn, Confirms Full Support For Team USA In Olympic Downhill Final today

Mikaela Shiffrin has shown her full support behind Lindsey Vonn as the American skiing legend prepares for yet another historic moment at the Winter Olympics. Along with Vonn, the American also cheered for other USA members, including Breezy Johnson and more.

With the women’s downhill final set to take place on Sunday, February 8, all eyes are on Vonn as she gears up for her seventh Olympic Games appearance.

Shiffrin, who has long shared the global stage with Vonn as one of Team USA’s brightest stars, said that she will be cheering just as loudly as any supporter when her compatriot takes to the court. In a conversation with TNT Sports, the 30-year-old exuded excitement in watching Vonn and other teammates compete.

“I am, I’m so excited to watch. I think we all are. This, her, I mentioned tenacity just now, her tenacity and grit and what she’s showing up with this Olympics, staying true to her own values. That’s just straight up beautiful. I’m so, so excited to see Lindsey and Breezy [Johnson] and Jackie [Wiles] and all of my teammates competing. I’m excited to watch,” said Mikaela Shiffrin.

Shiffrin was quick to praise the resilience Vonn has shown in the face of injuries, setbacks, and the passage of time. Despite the recent crash that led to her ACL tear, the 41-year-old secured 11th and third positions during the training runs, recording 1:40.33 and 1:38.28, respectively.

Lindsey Vonn made her feelings known about competing in her career’s final downhill Olympic race

Before competing in the women’s downhill final race for one last time in the Olympics on February 8, Lindsey Vonn penned a heartfelt message for it on her Instagram. Posting a picture of her in her skiing gear, she highlighted the adversities she navigated to reach the 2026 Winter Olympics in the caption.

Expressing belief in herself, she made her feelings known about competing in the downhill final of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“Tomorrow: One last Olympic downhill run… Just getting to these Olympics has been a journey, and one that some did not believe in from the start. I retired for 6 years, and because of a partial knee replacement, I had the chance to compete one more time. But why? Everyone seems to be asking me that question. But I think the answer is simple… I just love ski racing,” wrote Lindsey Vonn.

    She added:

“I will stand in the starting gate tomorrow and know I am strong. Know that I believe in myself. Know that the odds are stacked against me with my age, no ACL, and a titanium knee- but know that I still believe. And usually, when the odds are stacked against me the most, I pull the best of what’s inside me out. I will race tomorrow in my final Olympic downhill, and while I can’t guarantee a good result, I can guarantee I will give it everything I have. But no matter what happens, I have already won.”

    Lindsey Vonn’s message

Lindsey Vonn further expressed gratitude toward her supporters and fans, stating that it gave her the energy to make a comeback.
