UCLA Bruins Turn Heads at the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet, With Jordan Chiles Voted Best Dressed

Jordan Chiles, along with her other UCLA teammates, has stood out at the recent inaugural Student-Athlete Awards Banquet, hosted to honor champions who have defied all odds to make it big. The night was held in Pauley Pavilion and was presented by Wescom Financial. Chiles, alongside other honorees, was acknowledged by the board for both her athletic and academic achievements throughout the season, which helped preserve UCLA’s profile as a premier institution.

The student-athlete awards banquet took place on May 18 and featured awards from multiple categories. There was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Female and Male Bruin of the Year, Maggie Gilbert Academic Achievement Award, Bruin Leadership Award, etc, which highlighted the diversity each individual from UCLA brought in.

Among the many winners, celebrated gymnast Jordan Chiles won the Florence Griffith Joyner Award, which recognizes athletic excellence and community management. Chiles was also voted the best-dressed alumna of the night, as she could be seen wearing a suit while donning shades.

Fellow gymnast Maddie Anyimi won the Athletic Director’s Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a good profile on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every quarter. Mika Webster-Longin was named as one of the top academic achievers by the UCLA All-Academic Team for achieving the highest cumulative GPA.

Jordan Chiles Reveals How It Took 22 Years to Realize How Good She Felt Embracing Her Body

Apart from winning multiple accolades on her gymnastics floor, Chiles has also had brief stints outside that have helped her amplify her profile to great new heights. Back in 2025, the UCLA gymnast was featured in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit feature, where she stood strong wearing a custom-designed suit to showcase her confidence. She thanked the organization, her family, and peers, and spoke about the honor as being a gateway to help her embrace her authentic self.

“I’m very thankful for everyone who supported me. It took me 22 years to embrace my body, so this I was really proud of. Especially being a woman of color, it’s already very hard, but to step out of our comfort zone and feel bold is great,” she said.

Chiles recently bid goodbye to UCLA and has her eyes set on the elite stage of international gymnastics to launch a full-fledged professional career and carry on the legacy derived from the teachings of UCLA.
