Sha’Carri Richardson reacted to NCAA college basketball coach Kara Lawson’s motivating message after her women’s basketball team, the Duke Blue Devils, advanced to the Elite 8. The track and field athlete is currently gearing up for her 2026 season.
On March 28, Lawson’s team delivered a stunning performance at the NCAA Championships against their opponents, two-seeded LSU, in Sacramento, California. They dominated the latter, securing an 87-85 win and advancing to the Elite 8.
The senior guard Ashlon Jackson hit the buzzer-beating 3-pointer to win the game. This win marked the team’s second consecutive Elite 8 appearance.
Following the victory, the team’s coach addressed the media and delivered an encouraging speech, exuding confidence in herself and her team. Sharing her mindset during the championships, she said:
“I’m made for this. I don’t think it. I know I am, and that doesn’t mean I think I’m better than anybody, but I think when you’re walking in aligned in your purpose and what you’re meant to do and you’re doing it the place that you’re supposed to be doing it at with the players that you’re supposed to be doing it with, it allows you to just be so clear minded on things. Like I don’t get distracted by anything on the outside because I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing,” said Lawson.

This caught the attention of Sha’Carri Richardson, who was impressed with the motivating speech and penned a comment that read:
