Sha’Carri Richardson Headlines Big Weekend Of 100m Sprinting As Shericka Jackson & Amy Hunt Win National Titles

Olympic silver medalist and America’s ace women’s sprinter, Sha’Carri Richardson, rose to the occasion again, winning the gold in the 100m event at the Star Athletics Sprint Series at Horizon High School in Winter Garden, Florida, on Saturday. Richardson clocked 10.77, securing the gold ahead of Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo and fellow American Melicia Mouzzon.

It was a lively day in women’s athletics globally as Jamaican sprint sensation and 4x100m relay gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, Shericka Jackson, secured the national championship in the 100m with her fastest time in three years. In England, 24-year-old sprinter Amy Hunt became the national champion in the 100m, beating Dina Asher-Smith and Mabel Akande with a time of 11.01 sec.

With the dominant win, Richardson recorded the second-fastest time in the world this year. This was also the fastest 100m sprint time recorded by the 26-year-old American since 2022.

After a Disappointing 2025, Sha’Carri Richardson is Back on Her Perch in 2026

2025 was a challenging year for Richardson, who broke 11 seconds only once and finished fifth in the 100m at the World Championships with a time of 10.94. Her fellow American, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, won the world title in 10.61.

In 2026, Richardson began strongly, winning the LA Grand Prix in 10.99 and then running 10.77 on Saturday. These performances are encouraging for the star sprinter, who faces high expectations at major international events.

Her June 20 performance is likely to boost her confidence as the sprinters approach major competitions. The question for 2026 was whether she could return to her 2023 level. Florida’s 10.77 suggests she may be on the right path to reclaiming her dominant form.
