The long-running transfer portal season has finally come to an end, and with a startling shock, zero players from the Nebraska volleyball team took part in the portal for a second-straight year, which has sent a strong signal to their rival programs and to the American sports community in general about the strong cultural foundation that has been laid out for every student-athlete at Nebraska. The absence from the portal has now left the new coach, Dani-Busboom Kelly, with a team unified towards a single goal of being the best while fighting for the best. The
The Nebraska Huskers have had a dominant run this year, starting with their elite display of on-court power this past spring break, where freshmen Gabby DiVita and Jayden Robinson took center stage and helped veteran players Harper Murray and Bergen Reilley dominate the season. Prior to the final match, the Huskers had also arranged for a brief experiment via a fifth-set bout, which, however, cost them the set but not the match.
The transfer portal has seen several players come and go from different universities, citing specific reasons behind departing from their old programs. However, Nebraska has remained consistent in retaining its best players, which happens to be the entire squad, out of which zero players have decided to enter the portal.
Financially, Nebraska has leveraged the elite status of every player to establish itself as the most exotic Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collective in the country, which acts as a seal of testament for the current roster and aspiring Huskers that staying at Lincoln guarantees great overall development.
Nebraska Volleyball Coach Dani-Busboom Kelly Talks About the Importance of Travelling Across the State for Matches
As Nebraska volleyball is being hailed for its strong cultural foundation within its backyard, it has become important to note its commitment to spreading its culture throughout the state, and through its recent spring break endeavor, the Huskers did just that, where the team traveled through various arenas of the state, fighting exhibition bouts.
After the final Chadron match, coach Dani-Busboom Kelly spoke about the importance of travelling.
“I think it’s important not just for volleyball, but all other sports to travel. The fact that it’s not just a school that’s popular in Lincoln, this is an athletic department that the state loves and the entire state is proud of,” said Kelly (0:41).
The Nebraska volleyball team is scheduled to square off in a series of home and away matches to reach the first-ever Big Ten volleyball tournament this November, and is already expected to dominate the first few weeks.
