“Why would you wanna leave?” – Nebraska Volleyball Bergen Reilly Opens Up On Zero Huskers Entering Transfer Portal

Bergen Reilly recently opened up on the Nebraska Volleyball team’s feat of yet another year with no players entering the transfer portal. The Nebraska Women’s Volleyball team entered the 2026 season with no players, including Kenna Cogill, Teraya Sigler, Ryan Hunter, and others transferring to other programs.

These players announced their return to the Big Red Team before the transfer portal concluded. The Huskers team ended their 2025 season under the guidance of Coach Dani Busboom Kelly on December 14 after a loss against Texas A&M in the NCAA regional final.

Before their pursuit of the NCAA Championship title ended, they registered 33 consecutive wins and remained dominant. Although the program concluded the 2025 season on a bitter note, they earned a rare success by closing the transfer portal with zero transfers for the second straight season.

In an interview with Hurrdat Sports, Reilly reflected on this feat, stating that the program has the best fans in the country and a great culture, which does not make a player feel like leaving the program.

“Why would you wanna leave? We have the best fans in the country. We have such a great culture like we’re playing with our best friends. We have such a great staff that just really love us and care about us and so I think that it’s we don’t really talk about it. It’s just kind of like a everybody knows that Nebraska’s where they wanna be.”

This was the first transfer portal, which ended on January 15, 2026. The next portal will open between May 1 and 15.

“Pretty sick. I had to get an IV done before the game and woke up with a fever. I couldn’t really keep any food down. I lost a lot of weight but I knew that I was gonna do everything that I could for my team and it was unfortunate timing but that happens sometimes and that sports and my team just rallied around me and that’s just what made that team so special was nobody skipped a beat and we knew Campbell’s out but if Maisie needed to come in, Maisie is gonna come in so it was it really was unfortunate but it was so cool to just see the team like really rally around me.”

In her junior year, Reilly was named as AVCA Setter of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, Big Ten Setter of the Year, and All-Big Ten First Team.
