Lindsey Vonn Reacts To Jannik Sinner’s victory At Miami Open

Lindsey Vonn recently sent congratulatory wishes to her friend from the tennis fraternity, Jannik Sinner, on his victory at the Miami Open. With the win in Florida, Sinner has claimed the Sunshine Double, a rare feat last achieved by legend Roger Federer in 2017.

The four-time Grand Slam winner kicked off his Miami Open run with a win over Damir Dzumhur after clinching the Indian Wells Masters, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final. Sinner overpowered Alexander Zverev, 6-3, 7-6(4), for the seventh time in a row to reach the final.

The 24-year-old bested the World No. 22 Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 to win the title on Sunday. Following Sinner’s victory, elite skier Vonn congratulated him. She shared a video as she watched the match on TV at home and wrote:

    “Congrats @janniksin!!!”

Lindsey Vonn has frequently shown her support for Jannik Sinner. She was also in the stands at the 2025 US Open, which the Italian won over Carlos Alcaraz. Before starting his professional career in tennis, Sinner, who grew up in Sesto, Italy, competed in skiing. He won the national championship in giant slalom in 2008.

After entering the final round in Miami, Sinner surpassed Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Pete Sampras in reaching 10 Masters 1000 finals on hard courts in fewer main draw appearances. With the recent victory in Miami, he has joined the elite list of winners of the Sunshine Double, including Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios, Andre Agassi, Federer, and Djokovic.

Lindsey Vonn Opens Up On Receiving Criticism For Competing At The 2026 Winter Olympics

Lindsey Vonn reflected on the backlash she received for competing at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics. After having initially retired from the sport in 2019 due to injuries, she returned with her sights fixed on the 2026 Winter Games.

However, as she neared her dream, Vonn received major criticism, which the skier said was unjustified and unfair.

“I wanted to win the Olympics, and I wanted to win the downhill title, and I was on track to do both of those things. Everyone said it was reckless, and I was taking a spot from somebody else and all this nonsense,” she said. “I’m not crazy. I know what I can do and what I can’t do.”

At the 2026 Winter Games, Vonn was competing in the downhill when, just after 13 seconds of her run, she crashed hard and was airlifted to the hospital.
