    Former Nebraska Volleyball Player Leylah Blackwell Opens Up About Making Omaha Supernovas Debut

    The former Nebraska volleyball player, Leylah Blackwell, made her feelings known about competing for the Omaha Supernovas for the first time. This is her second year competing in the pro volleyball circuit.

    Blackwell competed for the Nebraska Cornhuskers for one season. She joined the team during her final year of eligibility and represented it in the 2024 NCAA Championships. Following her graduation from Nebraska, she made her pro season debut at the San Diego Mojo. After representing the team for one year, she signed with the Omaha Supernovas for the 2026 pro season.

    She is now all set to make her debut with the Supernovas at the Major League Volleyball season. The middle blocker will be seen in action on January 8 at the CHI Health Center, Omaha, Nebraska, where she and her team will be contesting against the San Diego Mojo. Before this match, she spoke to Huurdat Sports, where she was asked about returning to Nebraska.

    Making her feelings known about making a comeback, she said:

    “I am so excited. I mean, being back here in the last couple months, like going to the grocery store or anything there’s Husker fans everywhere, there’s Supernova fans everywhere. So, it’s just been so cool to be back. I mean, it makes my day every time someone says hi or that they watch Husker volleyball, or even now with the Supernovas, it just brings so much joy to the day,” said Leylah Blackwell.

    When Blackwell announced her signing with the Supernovas, she received a lot of heartfelt reactions from her former teammates.

    Leylah Blackwell Opened Up About Receiving An Emotional Welcome in Nebraska As a Pro Volleyball Player

    In January 2025, Leylah Blackwell received a warm welcome in Nebraska as a pro player for the San Diego Mojo. Ahead of her team’s game against the Omaha Supernovas, she turned emotional after being felicitated. Reflecting on her season with the Cornhuskers, she said that it was a ‘quick turnaround’ and that she was looking forward to being back in this environment.

    Opening up about being welcomed in Nebraska with her new team and teammates, she said:

    “This was definitely an emotional moment I think like it’s been a quick turnaround kind of getting into the next season. So I was really looking forward to this match and just being back in the state of Nebraska and back in this environment but it just is so sool to be here with my new team and my new teammates and having this experience that I get to kind of share with everyone and getting to be back but it was so special,” said Leylah Blackwell. 

    Leylah Blackwell penned a sweet message on social media after graduating from the University of Nebraska.
