Former Nebraska Volleyball’s Lexi Rodriguez has reacted to her LOVB teammate Kimberly Drewniok’s recent impressive record. In a rematch of the 2025 LOVB finalists, the Nebraska team locked horns with Austin in the 2026 season opener at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Texas, on Wednesday, January 7.
The Nebraska team’s opposite hitter, Drewniok, stunned fans in her season debut by registering LOVB career-highs of 26 points and 25 kills. She also led the team during the first match of the season. The team celebrated her achievements and shared a post on Instagram, writing:
“Season opener & CAREER HIGH!!! 👑👑👑”

Drewniok made her professional debut in 2014 in Berlin. She has represented the German national team nine times, including two world championships, five VNL/World Grand Prix, two European Championships, and two Olympic qualification tournaments.
The Nebraska team fell short of taking their 2025 finals revenge against Austin on Wednesday. The Austin team led the faceoff 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 15-9). During the 2025 LOVB finals, the Austin team clinched the title 3-0 against Nebraska. The LOVB Nebraska team will next compete in a home opener on Sunday, January 11, against LOVB Houston at the Baxter Arena in Omaha.
When Former Nebraska Volleyball’s Lexi Rodriguez Opened Up About Supporting The Huskers Team After Joining The Professional League
The former Nebraska Volleyball libero, Lexi Rodriguez, once opened up about attending the Huskers’ games after joining the professional league. The former Huskers’ libero highlighted the difference between being a spectator and a player, and reflected on the love she receives from the fans.
“It’s definitely really weird, because the last time I was here, I was the one on the court,” Rodriguez said (via Hail Varsity). “But I think it’s just so cool to see all the returners, and even all the new additions to the team, and just get to see them kind of out there. They look like they’re having a lot of fun, so I’m just really happy for them.”
“I mean it’s everything,” Rodriguez said of the fans. “It’s why Nebraska’s so special, and why I enjoyed my four years here. So to come back and still feel all the love, it means everything.”
She competed for the Big Red team from 2021 to 2024 before joining the professional league.
