The wrestling transfer portal season, specifically for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is buzzing with shocks and excitement, as more promising prospects, such as Greyson Pettit, Ryan Crookham, and Zan Fuggit, make their way into the pool. National qualifier Jake Dailey has also committed to the portal, alongside 2025 NCAA qualifier Jayden Scott.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have bagged two major stars in their program, signing promising talents Greyson Pettit and Ryan Crookham. The All-American Lehigh alumnus, Crookham, just entered Iowa at 133 pounds with only two years of eligibility remaining, predominantly due to his back-to-back season injuries. Crookham took to his social media to celebrate the transfer, and his peers lauded him. He is all set to fill the shoes of the two-time NCAA finalist Drake Ayala.
Another major Iowa addition was Greyson Pettit from New Jersey. The NJ native recently won a state title and is one of many recruits from New Jersey to Iowa, as the Hawkeyes build a solid lineup. He also posted his excitement on his social media.
Zan Fugit, however, brings in the homecoming factor, as the Mussori native returns to the Tigers after being honored as Wisconsin’s former All-American. Fuggit comes in at 133 lbs with two years of eligibility remaining.
Outside of Iowa, other programs, too, have seen changes, starting with UNC’s Jayden Scott, the 2025 NCAA qualifier, who has now committed to Lehigh, PA. Another UNC transfer is Jake Dailey, who is all set to join the NC State Wolfpack alongside his brother Matt.
Iowa Hawkeyes Add a New Temp Assistant Coach
The Iowa Hawkeyes have just bagged a new assistant coach, their own, Jacob Warner, for a temporary tenure. This comes after their former assistant coach, Bobby Telford, left for a new opportunity, creating space for new talent.
This is Warner’s official first-time entry into the world of coaching, but the Iowan brings in a pool of experience that suits him for the role. Warner is a former five-time NCAA All-American with an all-time national 3 ranking.
With the All-American lineup of promising prospects from the portal and a temporary addition to their coaching staff, the Iowa Hawkeyes display a solid roster ahead of a promising season.
