Harper Murray gave a sweet reaction after witnessing an exceptional portrait by the artist, Kyan Patel. She and her team, Nebraska volleyball, are competing in the ongoing spring season.
The Huskers opened their spring schedule on April 11, where they locked horns with Iowa State. They commenced the season with a bang, securing a 4-0 sweep. Their most recent outing in the court was on April 17, where they met Creighton at the DK Sokol Arena and continued their dominance by registering an impressive 3-1 victory. In this match, Murray played her role by earning 4 kills along with Andi Jackson, Skyler Pierce, and more.
Murray and her team are gearing up for their next match against North Colorado at the Chicoine Center in Chadron, Nebraska. Amid this, she received a sweet gesture from the artist, Patel, who gifted her a very realistic hand-painted senior season portrait of her. The athlete was stunned by the gesture and, delivering a sweet reaction, said that she loved it.
Patel posted a bunch of pictures and a video on social media, which showcased the shocked reaction of Murray. Calling it ‘insane,’ she said:
“This is so insane. I love it. I more than love it. You are so talented. This is crazy.
This is like actually insane. The face, I’m just super happy with this one in general, dude, it looks so good.”
When Harper Murray opened up about what the support from the Nebraska fans means to her
In August 2025, Harper Murray sat for an interview with Hurrdat Sports, where she fielded several questions surrounding the ins and outs of her volleyball career. Amid this, she was also asked about the support she received from the Nebraska fans. Exuding confidence to her fans, she said that she always knew that they would be supportive of her and lauded the culture.
“Yeah, I think in the back of my head, I always knew that Nebraska fans would be supportive. That’s kind of what our culture is based off of, whether that’s the volleyball program, the team, the coaches or the fans. You can feel the love from everyone;the stadium game is a perfect example of that. It might not seem like that big of a deal, but in the grand scheme of things, no other school can sell out a football stadium,” said Harper Murray.
She added:
“So I think there were just little things along the way. Even as a freshman, I had to just go back to and remind myself, the fans here support me. They support our team, they support what we do and they want us to succeed. So, I think at times it was hard to remember that.”
