Former NCAA champion from Wolfpack wrestling, Vincent Robinson, is the next in line to raise the heat of the ongoing transfer portal season by joining the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The move has been met with significant adoration from fans and fellow wrestlers, Gable Steveson and Jordan Burroughs.
Robinson has been through a startling season and is considered one of the elite performers of NC State. The two-time All-American became the first redshirt freshman to win an NCAA title since 1980 in NC State history.
Robinson took to his social media, announcing his commitment to the Cornhuskers, which has now caught the attention of former Olympic champions Steveson and Burroughs, both of whom cheered on Robinson’s next chapter.
“Great choice 🤞🏽🤞🏽,” wrote Steveson.
Olympic medalist Jordan Burroughs also reacted to the news with great enthusiasm, posting a Giphy sticker, playfully implying a Nebraskan mascot alongside a pool of Cornhuskers assembled to welcome Robinson.
Many fellow wrestlers and fans, too, commented with great hope and enthusiasm, calling the Wolfpack’s standout departure an enormous addition to the Cornhuskers.
Post-NCAA’s March Madness, the ongoing transfer portal has no intentions to stop its unpredictability in reshaping rosters. With promising prospects and rising stars entering the portal to assess their market value, college wrestling is seeing a rapid movement in its landscape.
Vincent Robinson Talks About Jordan Burroughs Being His All-Time Favorite Wrestler
Vincent Robinson poured his love for the former Olympic gold medalist wrestler, Jordan Burroughs, by calling him his favorite and the most inspirational figure in sports.
During an interview, Robinson spoke about how much Burroughs has meant to his personal development and mentioned Burrough’s Olympic gold-winning moment serving as an introduction to Robinson to wrestling.
This comes amid Robinson joining hands with the state that had actually harbored a talent like Burroughs in their program long before he went on to win the Olympic gold.
It remains to be seen the level of prowess Robinson brings to the already powerful lineup of Nebraska, but he is expected to stand out in dual meets and postseason matchups.
