Iowa Hawkeye’s Massoma Endene has decided to move over to Little Rock, Arkansas, wrestling, as the former three-time Division III has just made the announcement a while back. Endene revealed his ideal long-term plan with Arkansas and showed great confidence and excitement in their program after his abrupt end with the Hawkeyes.
The transfer portal season is buzzing with shocking exits and entries, notably with elite programs losing some of their most promising talents. However, coaches all over are scrambling through lists to hunt down the best talent to develop a great lineup for the upcoming season.
Endene’s stint with the Hawkeyes ended up being rocky despite being ranked No. 4 at 197 lbs. His mid-season dismissal from the team happened back in January, with Hawkeyes coach Tom Brands mentioning how things just didn’t work out with Endene.
Things have gone on a detour for the good as Endene has now joined hands with Little Rock and revealed his conversation with Coach Neil Erisman. He spoke about how transparent Erisman was right from the start and how the Trojans’ program is brewing something special.
“Coach Neil Erisman has been nothing but real and open with me since day one. From our first call, I could tell what he’s building. I truly believe something special is happening there, and I want to be a part of it,” said Endene.
He went on to reveal how his vision is not seasonal, but long-term, as he has clearly indicated a desire for culture-building and mentioned how the Trojan facility already feels like home.
Little Rock’s Wrestling Coach Reflects on the Trojans’ Wrestling Journey of Building a Sustainable Culture
Little Rock wrestling coach Neil Erisman has been the torch of light that has put enormous efforts into putting Arkansas wrestling on display for the nation. During an interview, Erisman spoke about how the Trojans need to build a program for financial success while keeping their culture intact.
He raised his arms for a “development over dollars” motto, which primarily is about focusing on building internal talents rather than acquiring athletes with NIL funds. This philosophy of long-term sustainability has now influenced Massoma Endene, who has indicated his desire to curb immediate success and build lasting relationships.
