Eileen Gu has weighed in on co-hosting the Laureus Awards show with tennis icon Novak Djokovic on April 20. Along with this, Simone Biles made her appearance at the event as Laureus’ new ambassador in a stunning outfit. The award show took place at the iconic Cibeles Palace in Madrid, Spain.
Gu, who earned the spotlight during the 2026 Winter Olympics with her notable performances, has turned heads with her role at the Laureus Sports Awards. She, who secured three medals for China, defending her Olympic title in the women’s halfpipe and earning two silvers in slopestyle and big air, was named co-host of the award show alongside Djokovic.
Gu offered a glimpse of her time as a co-host at the show by sharing a picture with her co-host on Instagram. She was seen donning a dreamy white outfit while posing with the 24-time Grand Slam winner, who rocked a classic black suit. Making her feelings known about the opportunity, she also penned a note in the caption that read:
“Mixed doubles hosting with @djokernole tonight @laureussport World Sports Awards 🌟🎾😁 Thank you Laureus for bringing together the world’s best athletes to celebrate the power that sport has unite people and make the world a better place 🤍.”
Another appearance that stole glances was of Simone Biles, who was recently announced as the new brand ambassador of Laureus in February. The gymnast has won a total of five Laureus World Sports Awards, including four Sportswoman of the Year and one Comeback of the Year. However, this year, she appeared as the brand ambassador in a unique and chic off-white outfit.
Laureus Sports posted a video of her appearance on the show on Instagram with a caption that read:
“Stunning Simone🤩.”
Carlos Alcaraz was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, and Aryna Sabalenka claimed the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award at the 2026 iteration of the show.
Simone Biles made her feelings known about entering into a partnership with Laureus
Simone Biles has consistently proved her worth in the gymnastics world, and while she is on a break from the mat, she is expanding her name beyond gymnastics. After winning consecutive awards at the Laureus Sports Award shows, the gymnast has now taken her relationship with the brand to another level.
She was named the brand ambassador for Laureus in February, and shortly after the announcement of her new role, she opened up about the new relationship while talking to the brand. Revealing the meaningful role that the brand has played in her life, she said:
“Laureus has played a meaningful role in my journey for many years, and I am incredibly proud to have been honoured four times as Laureus Sportswoman of the Year, including at last year’s Awards in Madrid, which was an unforgettable night for me. Today I am just as proud to be joining Laureus as an Ambassador. I am honoured to help support Laureus as I share the big idea at the heart of everything Laureus does: that sport has the power to change the world.”
Simone Biles achieved a historic milestone by winning her fourth Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award in April 2025. With this, she equaled her record set with tennis legend Serena Williams.
