David Taylor Named Coach of the Year as Bo Bassett Wins Junior Dan Hodge Trophy: Full list of WIN Magazine 2026 award winners

The WIN magazine has officially released the winners of its 2026 annual wrestling awards, which saw towering figures of the world of amateur wrestling taking home big honors, including Bo Bassett and David Taylor. The Bishop McCourt standout took home the junior Dan Hodge trophy, while Oklahoma’s beloved coach was given the highest honor a wrestling coach could ask for, earning the Dan Gable Coach of the Year honor.

The Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine (WIN) was founded by Mike Chapman with an aim to popularize amateur wrestling and honor those who give back to the sport enormously each year. Each year, WIN honors the most beloved wrestling names of a specific season in nine award categories, which highlight the contribution made by promising stars and legendary figures.

This year, David Taylor got honored with the Dan Gable Coach of the Year, a second win for Oklahoma wrestling, as the Cowboys had previously earned the award back in 2003 when John Smith led the squad. The Cowboys had a memorable season where they went 15-1 overall, a perfect 7-0 in Big 12 play, and saw three freshmen become the national champions.

Bo Bassett won the Junior Dan Hodge Trophy, which is a cup dreamed of by every aspiring amateur wrestler that symbolizes their mat prowess. As a senior, Bassett went with an impressive 44-0 record and won the PIAA Class 2A 145-pound championship. He currently rides through a celebratory seasonal win and looks forward to enclosing his name within Team USA.

Several other wrestling names were also honored with titles that perfectly attributed to their contributions this past season. USA Wrestling’s longest-serving executive director, Rich Bender, was honored with WIN’s Impact Award, which serves as a recognition for Bender’s unparalleled contribution in helping the sport get a global outreach.
