Ohio State Football Recruiting News: Ryan Day Eyeing Another Elite Four-Star Quarterback

Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes are about to enter the race for four-star recruit Dane Weber, a quarterback out of Temecula, California. This, according to a report by Rivals.com. Weber is considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, which also has him as the 19th-best quarterback in the nation and 25th-best player overall in the state of California for the class of 2027.

There’s some nuance to this valuation, as other recruiting-focused sites disagree with the four-star rating. 247Sports and ESPN have him as a three-star recruit. 247Sports has him as the 31st-best quarterback in the class and the 43rd-best player out of California. On the other hand, ESPN has him as the 25th-best quarterback in the class and the 48th-best player out of his home state.

Weber is also being looked by Michigan, Arizona, UCLA, California and Cincinnati, with the latter three schools considered to be closer to reaching a commitment with him.

The Ohio State quarterback depth chart is already incredibly crowded, with former five stars Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair as definete starter and backup pair. Behind them is transfer Justyn Martin who came in to replace departing Lincoln Kienholz. As we will see, there’s also another incoming four-star quarterback recruit out of California.
