Marcus Freeman is back for another season, which means it should be mostly business as usual. However, every offseason is still rife with change in college football, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are no exception.
Here’s a look at the up-to-date list of players who have already agreed to join the Fighting Irish and those who have decided to test the waters elsewhere.
Players Transferring To Notre Dame
As it stands, only four players have committed to Notre Dame to date. Three of the four players are on defense, which might indicate where the priority is for Notre Dame this offseason. There is still plenty of time to add to the list, and it is likely many more names will be added before all is said and done.
One name to watch is wide receiver Quincy Porter, who is arriving from Ohio State after one season with the program. Ohio State finished with a passing offense that averaged 268.2 yards per game in 2025, much better than most other programs. Porter could be a quality boost in 2026 as a player who was a casualty of a deep wide receiver room there.

Players Transferring Away From Notre Dame
Notre Dame is seeing lots of names exit this offseason, including quarterback Kenny Minchey. According to 24/7 Sports, Minchey has committed to joining the Kentucky Wildcats after three seasons with Notre Dame.
In addition to Minchey, the program is currently set to lose four players on offense and a whopping 11 players on defense. With a clear exodus taking place on the defensive side of the ball, it is clear that Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame will have some recruiting to do on that side of the ball heading into 2026.
