Will Anthony Richardson Request a Trade? ESPN Insider Questions Colts QB’s Future

Anthony Richardson had his moment with the Indianapolis Colts, but Daniel Jones’ presence has put his future with the team on life support. At least that is how it seemed in 2025. Some propped the door open that Richardson could get redemption with the team. However, Richardson might be done waiting for that moment.

According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder via a Tuesday Yahoo Sports report, a Richardson trade request could be around the corner. It isn’t a matter of if but when, the reporter claimed.

“It’s starting to seem ‘inevitable’ that Colts QB Anthony Richardson will request a trade from Indianapolis this offseason as they plan to move forward with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback when he can return from a torn Achilles, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder,” the Yahoo Sports report stated.

Richardson has thrown for 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his career, averaging a 50.6% completion rate and an 8-7 record in his three years with the Colts. While many questions exist about the young quarterback’s potential, there might be enough upside to warrant another chance elsewhere.

Where Could Anthony Richardson Be Traded?

Anthony Richardson could end up in several different situations. If granted a trade, the Indianapolis Colts would seemingly have the final say on where he ends up, with trade capital deciding the final choice.

At this point, Richardson’s inevitable request would come with a request that wherever he goes, he could have a chance to start in 2026. Luckily for him, his market might line up with what he wants.

Richardson would make sense with teams gearing up for a quarterback competition. The Minnesota Vikings could be an option if Minnesota decides not to make a huge investment in changing the quarterback this season.

Another option could be the Arizona Cardinals, who appear to be moving off Kyler Murray but may want a Murray-like scrambler to compete with a rookie quarterback.

The Las Vegas Raiders also make sense as a team that could go in several directions at quarterback in 2026.

The Atlanta Falcons could be a decent choice as well, with Kirk Cousins on the way out and seemingly nothing solidified at quarterback with a new general manager on deck.
