Todd Monken was recently hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Many were speculating that he might follow John Harbaugh and become the New York Giants offensive coordinator, but that’s not how it turned out.
With the latest news, the spotlight is on Monken’s personal life, where they’ll learn a good deal about his wife, Terri Monken.
Who is Todd Monken’s Wife Terri?
Todd Monken has been married to Terri for a long time.
According to the Ravens official website, they first crossed paths at a funeral while they were both students. Todd previously joked that he was the “original funeral crasher.” After the two talked to each other, Terri said that she was not only in the company of him but also his love for football.
“Oh, probably within the first few minutes of talking to him,” Terri said. “It’s in his DNA. You just always know there’s three people in the room: you, him, and football.”
They dated for six years before tying the knot in 1991. Because of Monken’s coaching stint all over the place, they have become experienced in moving around.
“You get used to the smell of cardboard,” Terri said. “I don’t think Todd’s got ‘settle’ in his bones. He loves to chase the opportunity. And every step, for the most part, has been a phenomenal move.”
Todd and Terri have one son, Travis, who has followed in his father’s football footsteps and worked in coaching roles, including as a football analyst.
Terri has spoken about how football has become an integral part in the life of the couple.
“Work is always there,” Terri said. “He’s always looking at film, drawing up plays, writing up notes on what to do better. He’s always trying to come up with sayings or words to reach the players. I don’t want to say obsessed, but he’s all-in. If there’s 24 hours in the day, we’re going to try to squeeze out 24 hours and five minutes.”
Todd’s son, Travis, has also vouched for the head coach’s love for the game.
“It’s crazy how much time he puts into it, just to make sure he’s getting the best product to the players so he can put them in the best opportunity to win,” Travis said. “He’s kept his juice. He loves it out there. He’s always out there yelling and screaming, trying to get everyone involved.”
Terri has worked in the health insurance field. She has also participated in athletic and fundraising events like marathons and charity efforts.
