NFL reporter Dianna Russini resigned from The Athletic after intimate-looking photos of her with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel took the internet by storm. Russini was previously with ESPN before she became a lead insider with The Athletic.
After her resignation last month, Russini stepped away from public-facing work and even limited her presence on social media.
What Is Dianna Russini Doing Now?
There has been no solid update on whether Dianna Russini has resumed working with any other media company. However, if she is looking for a job, an offer from Jon “Stugotz” Weiner will hold forever.
Talking on his podcast “Stugotz & Company” on Friday, Weiner clarified that his offer for Russini before she stepped down stands till now.
“I did say if the Athletic fired her, I would hire her,” he said. “They didn’t fire her. She stepped down from the Athletic, and the offer holds forever. If Dianna Russini decides one day, three months from now, a year from now, two years from now, that she wants to get back into this game, she has a place right here.”
The podcast host claims that, though he is friends with Russini, he has no opinion whatsoever on the controversy involving Mike Vrabel.
“I am simply saying, it’s her story to tell, it’s not my story, and I am simply going to support my friend,” he said.
However, the one thing he wants to do is to support his friend at such a difficult time.
“I’m not a journalist, I’m a talk show host,” he added. “And when my real friends fall on some difficult times, I like to support my friends and talk to them and be someone that listens. Not talks, listens. This is her story to share when she feels like sharing it. It is not me.”
What Dianna Russini Said In her Resignation Letter to The Athletic?
Page Six shared exclusive photos of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel from an Arizona-based resort, sparking a potential extramarital relationship between the two. Shortly after the photos were leaked, Russini decided to resign from The Athletic.
In her resignation letter, Russini claimed that the organization supported her when the Page Six exclusive first came out. However, she was resigning to halt self-feeding speculation.
“When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful,” she said. “In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.”
It remains to be seen if Russini decides to take up Weiner on his offer.
