NFL superstar Travis Kelce did not compete in the ongoing 2026 American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe. He skipped the July 8-12 event following his high-profile wedding to Taylor Swift in New York City on July 3.
Kelce’s brother, Jason, is participating in the tournament. During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, NBA legend and Kelce’s golfing rival, Charles Barkley, was asked if Kelce should’ve attended the tournament instead of going on his honeymoon.
“Honeymoon,” Barkley said. “That’s not a good way to start a marriage, ‘I’m going to play golf, honey,’ instead of taking me on my honeymoon, especially if you’re Taylor Swift. He has to go on that honeymoon.”
The $90 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth) worth NBA legend was also asked about his absence from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. He was one of the few celebrities who received an invite for arguably the biggest wedding of the year but still decided not to show up.
“I love Travis and Taylor, they’re amazing,” Barkley said. “I don’t know Taylor that well, but I know Travis, he’s one of my favorite people in the world, him and his brother Jason. But I don’t go to weddings or funerals, that’s just a rule for myself.”
Even though Chuck didn’t attend the wedding because of his personal rule, he said that he wishes them nothing but the best for their future together. Barkley also said he felt honored to receive the wedding invite.
Earlier this week, during a conversation with “Unfiltered with Ricky Bo and Bill Colarulo” on Philadelphia’s 97.5 The Fanatic, Chuck revealed that he was on the official guest list.
Julian Edelman Refused to Spill Wedding Details
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have a huge global fanbase, and those fans want to know every detail about their luxury wedding. In that quest, people have tried to get some details out of the people who were in attendance.
NFL legend Julian Edelman recently made an appearance on Yahoo Sports Daily, and the hosts of the show tried to get him to spill the beans. However, Edelman refused to do so for a very specific reason.
“There was a wedding, and it was awesome, that’s where I’ll keep it,” Edelman said. “I don’t have a high enough pay grade to go into details. I don’t know the details of what we can and can’t say.”
Just like Barkley, Edelman also wished nothing but happiness for the couple and said he’s excited to see them transition into becoming great parents.
