Brandon Aiyuk’s standoff with the San Francisco 49ers is causing a lot of drama, with the wide receiver going on public rants about the team on social media. He has been calling on the team to release him as well as calling the franchise some unsavory names. However, this attempt to burn bridges with his current team may cause problems for him professionally, according to a well-known analyst.
Adam Schefter had his take on the Aiyuk drama and said that other teams might get turned off with how he is handling the situation with the Niners, as this would draw concerns regarding how they could deal with him in the future.
“I think every time he opens his mouth, he damages his standing with other teams and he scares other teams from bringing him into their organization,” Schefter said. “In speaking with teams, everybody’s saying ‘What’s wrong with this guy right now?’ It’s unsettling to watch him and it’s scary to see how he’s handling himself.”
Aiyuk has referred to the 49ers as “stupid” as he asked for his release, though he did not mention the team by name. However, he did make it clear that he wants to leave his current team.
Brandon Aiyuk Also Taking Swipe at San Francisco 49ers Head Coach
It is not just the Niners organization that Brandon Aiyuk is taking swipes at on social media, but he is also going after head coach Kyle Shanahan. For Shanahan, he did not mention him by name but implied that the person he said has “the temperament of a toddler” is the coach.
In another expletive-laden rant, the wide receiver noted that “We is not cool,” adding that he would not be “cool” with the team ever and would never step into the team building ever. Aiyuk has also posted Instagram videos saying he wants to sign with the Washington Commanders.
