According to recent reports, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden in New York City is expected to be on scale with “Eras Tour-level” production.
While neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the wedding details, reports surrounding the event have increased ahead of the rumored wedding date July 3.
Page Six reported that celebrity wedding planner Mark Seed has been working on the event for months, with plans that could completely transform Madison Square Garden into a custom-built wedding venue.
Event planner Darren Olarsch described the process as being similar to organizing a large concert rather than a traditional wedding.
“It would be an Eras-tour level production,” he told Page Six.
“It’s doable, but it is like planning a concert. What might be a $300,000 wedding somewhere else, inside the Garden would be $3 million,” he added.
But turning a 20,000-seat venue into a wedding venue won’t be easy.
“The production team would have to build out overhead structures”— using decorative elements like draping — “to bring down the scale,” from the 150 -foot height ceiling, so it feels more “romantic, close and intimate.”
“They would literally build the wedding venue on the floor. Your own mini stage, dance floor and surrounding tables that are all right there; a venue within a venue.” – Olarsch said.
Reports Suggest Massive Costs and Guest List
The scale of the reported event is expected to come with a significant price tag.
It is estimated that transforming Madison Square Garden for a private wedding could cost millions of dollars, considering the cost of security, staffing, catering, décor, and entertainment.
The rumored guest list is also quite big. Reports have claimed that more than 1,000 guests could attend the event, making it one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings.
Security is expected to be a major focus as managing the attendees is a great challenge in itself.
Industry experts believe the production would require days of setup and teardown, similar to the work required for major concert tours. Reports have also suggested that custom staging may be incorporated into the celebration, potentially allowing celebrity guests to take part in performances during the reception.
For now, much of the news around the wedding remains based on media reports and other sources. However, if the plans prove accurate, Swift and Kelce’s big day could become one of the greatest celebrity weddings ever staged.
