“Horrendous Pick” “Ridiculous”: Fans Left Unimpressed As Jaguars HC Reveals Plans on Travis Hunter Playing Both Sides

Travis Hunter was among the most hyped up rookies in the past NFL season after getting picked as the no.2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy during his final year at Colorado, is most popular because of the way he can play on both sides of the ball, as both a WR and a CB.

However, Hunter didn’t have the best year in his rookie season as he was limited to just 7 games because of a season ending injury, something many analysts and players warned him about.

Now that Hunter is recovered, many fans and analyst are curious whether he would play both the positions or not, to which Jaguars HC Liam Coen said the franchise’s plans for the former Colorado star has not changed.

“Horrendous pick. This GM stinks. What a reach this year also.” one fan reacted.

“Coen knows the plan sounds ridiculous. He just can’t say “we overpaid for a gadget player” out loud yet. 🙄” another fan shared.

“Liam Coen not blinking on the 2 way plan for Travis Hunter is bold.. Jacksonville drafted him to do the impossible and they are actually going to let him try it, this either becomes the greatest NFL experiment ever or the most expensive lesson in recent memory.” Another fan wrote.

“You can get away with that shit in college but It’s just not feasible in the NFL at all he should be playing full time corner.” Another fan said.

“Hahahahaha notice how many times they have to tell people this. Means it’s unjustified why they wasted 2 FRP on him😂😂.” Another fan shared their thoughts.

“Liam Coen keeping Travis Hunter on both sides of the ball shows he’s staying committed to the vision. When you draft someone for that versatility, you either use it or you don’t. Coen’s not wavering.” another fan commented.

Jaguars GM James Gladstone Makes Thoughts Clear on Travis Hunter’s 2-Way Future

During a conversation with Rich Eisen on Wednesday, Jaguars GM James Gladstone spoke about Travis Hunter’s future with the franchise in terms of being a 2-way player.

Gladstone said Hunter is absolutely not done playing on both sides of the ball and shared that one thing that will be changing is the uptake of corner usage as last year was higher on WR usage from Hunter.

The Jaguars GM explained his decision to increase the cornerback usage because the team has a different cornerback room, hence it would be more fitting for Hunter to get more time on the defensive side of the ball.

Talking about Hunter’s mindset, Gladstone said it’s still the same in terms of wanting to play on both sides of the ball.
