The NFL offseason has been filled with madness whether it’s been players being traded, signing massive contracts, or being a surprise cut.
Many teams have been aggressive in free agency while others haven’t been, with free agency dying down. The NFL Draft is a little over a month away, which will really be where teams build their future.
It’s hard to list the 10 best teams heading into the season but here are the best 10 best teams as of right now prior to the draft:
Top-10 Teams Post Free Agency Frenzy
#10 – Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears won the NFC North last season with an 11-6 record. Quarterback Caleb Williams played like a No. 1 overall pick in his second season and Ben Johnson flipped the culture around. They’ve added a few players this offseason in safety Cody Bryant, linebacker Devin Bush, and wide receiver Kalif Raymond. They lost WR DJ Moore via trade and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in free agency.
#9 – Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers finished second in the NFC North and almost advanced to the Divisional round of the playoffs had they not blown a 21-3 lead to the Bears. The Packers have added DT Javon Hargraves and CB Benjamin St-Juste while acquiring LB Zaire Franklin via trade. The Packers lost WR Romeo Doubs and edge rusher Rashan Gary.
#8 – Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville, like the Bears and Patriots, had a big turnaround last season. They won the AFC South with a 13-4 record. Though they only signed one outside free agent (RB Chris Rodriguez) they lost a pair of key free agents in RB Travis Etienne and LB Devin Lloyd. Good thing is, they have the second-most draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft with 11.
#7 – Houston Texans
The Houston Texans had one of the best defenses in football last season and led in many defensive categories. The Texans got hate late in the season, winning their final nine regular-season games and picking up a Wildcard win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
#6 – New England Patriots
The New England Patriots had the best turnaround season last year, reaching the Super Bowl, becoming AFC champions. They are going to be viewed as an AFC contender with Mike Vrabel in his second season as head coach and quarterback Drake Maye in his third season. They’ve added multiple guys (Rome Doubs, Alijah Vera-Tucker, etc.) while losing many (Stefon Diggs, Garrett Bradbury) in free agency.
#5 – San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best all-around rosters in the NFL. They compete in the highly-competitive NFC West, but added a weapon in wide receiver Mike Evans this offseason. They will need to continue to reshape their WR room, but they’re in good enough shape to still be a top-10 team entering the season.
#4 – Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have been a top-10, top-5 team in the NFL pretty much every year since Josh Allen has been their quarterback. Needing an upgrade at WR, the Bills added veteran wide out DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears this offseason. The Bills, with how explosive their offense is, should competing for the AFC this season.
#3 – Denver Broncos
Things are trending upward in Denver with Bo Nix at quarterback and with Sean Payton as head coach. There’s a good chance the Broncos would have represented the AFC had Bo Nix not suffered a fractured ankle in the AFC Divisional round.
#2 – Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams have been aggressive this offseason, acquiring the Kansas City Chiefs’ top two cornerbacks this offseason in Trent McDuffie (via trade) and signing Jaylen Watson. With those additions and with quarterback Matthew Stafford back, the Rams don’t really have a big weakness.
#1 – Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks lost a few guys in free agency but re-signed CB Josh Jobe and WR Rashid Shaheed. They’re in the top-10 most cap space and will prepare to extend WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and CB Devon Witherspoon. The run game will need to improve this season, but the Seahawks will likely compete for the NFC against his season.
