Tom Brady is definitely a New England Patriots man. After all, as a quarterback, he led the team to become the most successful franchise in NFL history over two decades. While he didn’t get to finish his career at Gillett Stadium, with a brief final stint at Tampa Bay, which included a Super Bowl win, one would suspect he’s supporting New England in the upcoming Super Bowl LX.
Not necessarily it seems, as his latest statement on the matter has surprised some people. The seven-time Super Bowl champion just wants the best team to win it all, as he said on the “Let’s Go” podcast:
“May the best team win. And in terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.”
There could also be a bit of professionalism in Brady’s comment, given that he’s currently a Fox Sports analyst. He’s also the minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and he’s pretty involved in the team’s rebuilding efforts, specifically in their quarterback scouting and search for a new head coach.
Tom Brady Explains His Decision Not To Root For The New England Patriots During Super Bowl LX
In the same podcast, he also went on to explain why, from his point of view, it makes sense not to support any one team.
“You have different chapters and moments that you go through where you’re affiliated with a certain team at Michigan and then I was with the Patriots for 20 years, I was with Tampa for three amazing years. I’ve been in broadcasting, now I’m an owner of the Raiders,” Brady noted. “Those memories that I have are forever ingrained in me. … Now in a different phase in my life I root for people and people I really care about.”
It seems that at this point in life, he sees himself as a neutral party to Super Bowl LX. And there seems to be a hint of someone important to him being involved with one of the teams.
