There’s a popular meme featuring the Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, shooting a ball toward Earth from the moon’s surface. What Puka Nacua has been doing the last few days is being compared to that by some fans.
Steph’s meme represents someone shooting a completely wild shot, one that has no chance of ever finding the net. The Los Angeles Rams wide receiver is doing something similar by hitting on Sydney Sweeney.
It all started with an interview where Sweeney revealed what she looks for in a partner.
“Athletic and outgoing and funny. I’m a sporty girl, so someone needs to be able to climb a mountain with me, go skydiving with me. And someone who loves their family,” she said.
Nacua saw an opportunity there and responded to the quote with a simple message.
“Love skydiving,” the Rams star wrote.
There’s also another rumor that Nacua allegedly said, “I have reservations for us on Wednesday actually.” Although it’s unconfirmed and likely untrue, the alleged statement from the WR is doing the rounds.
In response to his two-word message, thousands of fans flocked to the comments. Some of them hyped Nacua up while others gave him harsh reality checks.
“Puka thanks for teaching me everything I know about skydiving while we were mountain climbing,” a fan wrote.
“Just moved Chase and Gibbs ahead of you in my rankings. You not locked in fam,” a fan wrote.
“I remember that time we were mountain climbing and you said “this is cool, but I do wish we were skydiving.” I wanted to ask more but you went off the path to go help that injured baby deer. Anyway, thanks again for getting us lunch after too,” a fan wrote.
“hey Puka, thanks for saving my dog from the top of that mountain,” a fan wrote.
“Remember that time you climbed a mountain to save that puppy and then sky dived back down then loaned me $10k? That was awesome,” a fan wrote.
“Was fun climbing everest with ya Pook!” a fan wrote.
Nacua’s post blew up on X, garnering over 200k likes, 3.5k responses, and 19.1 million views.
Puka Nacua Might Not Be Ready for the Truth
During her interview, Sweeney talked about what she looks for in a partner. She expressed her fear of being alone in life and revealed everything that her ideal partner would have.
“I have a huge fear of being alone for the rest of my life, so I look for someone who will be my best friend, who I can hang out with, talk to all the time, dream up things with, and work with,” she said.
While the comments allowed Nacua to shoot his shot, the WR might not be aware that Sweeney is already in a relationship. She has been dating Scooter Braun for a while, and they’re frequently spotted together in public.
