As the New England Patriots began their OTAs on Tuesday, Mike Vrabel was asked a few indirect questions about his off-field controversy involving NFL insider Dianna Russini.
When a reporter asked Vrabel if he expected to miss any more practices after he skipped the 2026 NFL draft Day 3, the Patriots coach shared a cryptic response and said that while he will be present in full force on that day, anything could happen in the future.
This statement led many analysts to believe there is something more to the story, suspecting that maybe Russini will come out to share her side of the story, or there might be more pictures of the two that they’re unaware of.
Discussing the situation on Thursday, analyst Rich Shertenlieb said on WEEI 93.7 FM:
”Hearing Vrabel say, ‘I’m not sure whether or not, you know, I’m going to be able to be here.’ It does say to me that in the back of his head, he knows that there could be some sort of grenade that gets thrown out there.”
Speaking about whether Vrabel and Russini are communicating about being aware of potential things that could get released, he added:
“There’s no way they’re communicating. It can’t be anyway because it’s like the husband and wife. I mean, both of their, you know, her husband and his wife, I guarantee you, it’s just like you are never speaking to them again. And why would you do that? Like, why would you? Because right now they both got a lot of making up to do.”

It all began when photographs of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini at an adults-only resort in Arizona were leaked in April. The two were seen hugging, holding hands, and spending time together by the pool and in the hot tub.
Various fans and analysts bashed Vrabel and Russini for allegedly cheating on their spouses, as they’re both married to other people and have two kids each. Both the Patriots coach and the former The Athletic reporter have denied any wrongdoing.
When asked about how this year’s offseason has been in terms of the work-life balance, Vrabel said it’s been really good.
“Really good,” Vrabel said on Tuesday during the Pats’ OTAs. “I appreciate my family. I love Jen; I love the boys. I love my personal friends.”
Vrabel and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for over 25 years after tying the knot in 1999.
