After being arrested on eight charges last week, Terrion Arnold was granted bond after a Tampa Bay judge denied the state’s request to keep the Detroit Lions star jailed until his trial.
Arnold is reportedly set to pay the $1M bond set by the court and will have to make no contact with the co-defendants or witnesses in the case. The 23-year-old will also not be able to leave the country as part of the conditions set by the court.
Shortly after he was granted bond, Arnold was seen smiling and celebrating his temporary release with his attorneys.
While the Lions cornerback was not ordered to wear an ankle monitor, he is ordered to either stay at home or work, restricting the places he can visit while he awaits trial.
NFL Still Investigating Terrion Arnold Case Despite Court Relief
While the courts have enabled Terrion Arnold to practice with the team and return home for the time being, the NFL might not share the same views as the judge’s decision.
As far as the league is concerned, Arnold’s case is still ‘under review,’ according to a report by Pro Football Talk. Based on what the league decides after its investigation is conducted, Arnold could be restricted from practicing with the team, despite the court’s decision.
Until then, Arnold will be under the surveillance of the ‘paparazzi monitor,’ per Judge Sabella.
“If he is late for practice, ESPN will let us know,” Sabella said Monday. “If he violates the conditions of his bond, he will be found.”
The date for Arnold’s trial is yet to be announced. Denise White, part of Arnold’s representation, claimed Judeg Sabella’s decision was proof that the state did not have a strong enough case against the Lions defender.
