Stefon Diggs is going through a very turbulent time in his life. On one hand, the New England Patriots’ wide receiver is on the brink of making history as he’s about to play in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.
On the other hand, Diggs and his legal troubles are close to entering the ‘too many to count’ bracket. As per a TMZ report, the 32-year-old has been slapped with yet another lawsuit just days before the Super Bowl.
As per the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Diggs is being sued for “defamation and more.” The lawsuit stems from an incident that happened in 2024 involving Diggs’ Ferrari.
A man is claiming that he worked for Diggs in July 2024. He was asked by the NFL star to make arrangements for his Ferrari to be shipped from Miami to New York and then to Houston as its final destination.
Unfortunately, the Ferrari was stolen in Houston. Now, the man who has filed the lawsuit is claiming that the car was stolen by third parties and that he was in no way related to the theft. He also claims that he was never arrested or charged in relation to the case.
Despite that, Diggs has allegedly spread the wrong word about him, which is now hurting his business. The man is also allegedly being confronted by people from Diggs’ circle.
“He says people close to Stefon approached him at restaurants in Houston and Miami and even came to his home demanding he return gifts given to him by Stefon,” TMZ’s report says.
In the documents, the man has revealed a text allegedly sent to him by Diggs where he says that he was “responsible and accountable for all actions of those around me.”
TMZ reported that they reached out to the Patriots star for comment on this case, but they haven’t received a response yet.
Stefon Diggs is Hoping for a Hall of Fame Nod
If we strictly go by how he has performed throughout his career, Diggs will be recognized as one of the best wideouts of his generation. But for someone to be in the Hall of Fame, they need more than just recognition.
Diggs needs accolades, individual and team, and the Super Bowl might just be that for him as of now.
“I just know that it (would) help my case a little bit,” he said. “I always wanted that, though. I’m never gonna shun or run away from wanting to be a Hall of Famer or wanting to be a guy that played this game and be respected, so I don’t run from that.”
It’s not going to be easy. The Patriots are facing a very strong Seattle team that is equally, if not more, prepared for the biggest game of the year. In addition to that, they are the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
