Last week, Cardi B’s ex-husband, rapper Offset, threatened her current boyfriend and the father of her new baby, NFL star Stefon Diggs. During a now-viral video call with internet personality Celina Powell, the rapper and father of three children (all with Cardi B), threatened the New England Patriots wide receiver.
“If I catch Buddy, and I can catch him, it’s gonna be bad,” Offset said during a video call, with Celina Powell laughing in the background. “Beat, str*p, sh*t in the knee, all types of sh*t.”
The interaction has raised some serious legal and moral questions about Offset’s behavior. But YouTuber Akademiks believes that the public should also take into account the mental state of the rapper. According to him, this might be down to his gambling addiction.
On Monday, the YouTuber said:
“Offset needs possible rehab for his gambling addiction. I’ll leave it there. You can’t be this much of a degenerative gambler, that you have turnt to the likes of Celina Powell. Not saying there’s nothing inherently wrong with her. But you’re putting yourself in positions that actually you’re forgetting who you are. Like, you’re still Offset. Right? And some of these other things that are your vices is becoming so controlling that now you’re putting yourself in positions around people that not only will make you look crazy, if they want to, but might compromise you and definitely your initiatives of, you know, your family. Okay? I’ll leave that there.”
According to the reports, Offset has had heavy gambling losses recently, and Powell alleges that she had intimate encounters with him and that she loaned him $15,000, which he lost through gambling.
Other Legal Issues Surrounding Cardi B And Stefon Diggs
Cardi B’s boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, has legal troubles of his own. Earlier in the year, influencer Aileen Lopera slapped him with a paternity lawsuit over the fatherhood of her daughter, Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera, whom the player has alleged was not his. While legal proceedings are still active, E! Online in November claimed that a DNA test confirmed he is the father.
He has also been facing criminal charges since early January in the state of Massachusetts, over an incident that allegedly took place in early December. He is charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery against a former private female chef. The dispute started over allegedly unpaid wages, and according to court documents, Diggs struck her and attempted to choke her at his home in Dedham. The judge has postponed his arraignment until February 13, after the Super Bowl.
