If Shedeur Sanders was hoping to be the main man for the Cleveland Browns in the upcoming NFL season, things haven’t started exactly how he would have wanted. April is almost ending and while there is still a long time to go before head coach Todd Monken makes his decision on QB1, there is enough reason to believe that Deshaun Watson might be leading the Browns’ charge at quarterback.
Watson appears to be ahead of Sanders in the pecking order as of now, with renowned names such as local Cleveland reporter Mary Kay Cabot suggesting that Watson should be the QB1 heading into the new campaign.
This take has come under its own scrutiny, but she’s found a supporter in FS1 analyst Nick Wright, who had some unsavory comments about Shedeur in a recent show.
“If Shedeur Sanders cannot beat out Deshaun Watson, even in year 2, it is a stinging indictment on wherever Shedeur is going to be as a pro… I did not expect him to lose a fair, head-up competition to Deshaun Watson,” Wright said on the “First Things First” show on Fox Sports 1.
Wright Further Goes on With Stinging Criticism
Shedeur seemed to get no sympathy from Wright during the show, with a “terrible” remark only strengthening the belief that Sanders doesn’t have too many fans at the moment.
But the rest of the panel appeared to agree that Shedeur has more than enough time to flip things around and prove to Todd Monken that he can be the man to lead the Browns’ charge this season.
