Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker was a huge part in the team winning Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots, earning Super Bowl MVP. Walker rushed for 135 yards and had 26 receiving yards.
With Walker hitting free agency, some thought the Seahawks would potentially use the franchise tag on him if a deal wasn’t reached before the tag deadline, which expires today at 4:00 p.m. ET. But they won’t be.
Walker will test the open market as the Seahawks will not be tagging him before today’s deadline.
If Walker were to leave the Seahawks in free agency, he would become the fourth player to join a new team the following season after earning Super Bowl MVP.
Kenneth Walker Heads To Free Agency As One Of The Top RBs
There’s a solid market for free agent running backs this offseason.

Tyler Allegeier has been a backup in Atlanta to Bijan Robinson the last few seasons, but rushed for a career-best eight touchdowns this season. He rushed for over 1,000 yards as a rookie in 2022 when he was the team’s starting running back.
Rico Dowdle rushed for 1,000 yards for a second-straight season and scored a career-high seven touchdowns last season.
The running back market features a lot of talented backs that could receive some big contracts with the cap space going up. New York Jets running back Breece Hall was taken off the market this morning as the Jets placed the franchise tag on him.
