With today’s deadline to use the franchise/exclusive tag on players, the New York Jets have officially placed the franchise tag on running back Breece Hall.
The two sides were unable to reach a long-term deal the day the tag expires, and the Jets have retained him by tagging him. Hall will receive a one-year, $14.293 million full-guaranteed contract for the 2026-2027 season. He’s now off the free agent market and the two sides will continue to work out reaching a long-term deal this offseason.
Hall rushed for a career-high 1,065 yards last season. In four NFL seasons, he’s rushed for 3,398 yards, 18 touchdowns, and has 188 receptions for 1,642 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
Breece Hall Joins George Pickens, Kyle Pitts As Players That Have Been Franchise Tagged
With Breece Hall being franchise tagged, three players have officially received the franchise tag this offseason. Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens are the other two players that have been franchise tagged this offseason.
Pitts became the first player tagged this offseason, with the Falcons placing the tag on February 24. This came after a career season for Pitts in which he recorded career-highs in receptions (88) and receiving touchdowns (5) in a single season.
The Cowboys sent the Pittsburgh Steelers a third and fifth-round pick for Pickens, who set career-highs in all major categories with 93 receptions, 1429 receiving yards, and nine receiving touchdowns.
