The entire footballing world has received shockwaves with the news of the untimely passing of Minnesota Vikings’ 25-year-old wide receiver Rondale Moore. As per Police Chief Todd Bailey, the New Albany native’s dead body was found in a garage of a property in his hometown.
While the exact details pertaining to his death are still unknown, the police suspect a self-inflicted gunshot wound to be the cause of his death, as his abrupt demise still remains under investigation.
Moore’s death was further confirmed by Coroner Matthew Tomlin of Floyd County, revealing an autopsy will also be conducted on Sunday.
After being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as a second-round pick back in 2021, Moore started for them in a total of 23 games whilst catching 135 passes for 1,201 yards and a total of three touchdowns.
Moore’s college football stint with the Purdue Boilermakers saw him win the Paul Hornung Award while also being named as a first-team All-American freshman. He garnered a total of 1,915 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns during his time with the Indiana-based program.
NFL Stars Mourn Vikings WR Rondale Moore’s Tragic Death at 25
Rondale Moore’s untimely death has but naturally prompted a lot of NFL stars to mourn his demise.
Moore’s former Arizona Cardinals teammate Kyler Murray, on his Instagram story, posted a heartfelt image of the two together.
“Just spoke to you bro. Blessed to have been able to share this life with you. I pray you’re in a better place now Ra,” Murray wrote in the caption.
Indiana Colts’ cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner also shared his condolences on X after losing a “brother.”
“Losing another brother is heartbreaking man! Prayers up to the Moore family, and check in on your people frfr!!! We need more support than you think,” Gardner wrote on X.
Former Heisman Trophy winner and Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III, on the backdrop of Rondale Moore’s abrupt demise, shared the importance of mental health on X, asking people to make it a priority and never take it for granted.
“Mental Health is important. Never take your mental health for granted. Make your Mental Health a priority,” Griffin III wrote on X.
In recent times, plaguing injuries cut short his playing time on the field for two seasons. He missed the entirety of the 2024 season nursing a dislocated right knee during his time with the Atlanta Falcons. An unfortunate left knee injury during the Minnesota Vikings’ preseason opening game saw him miss the entirety of the 2025 season as well.
