Aaron Donald missed the 2025 season and appeared to be happy with where he was in life. However, the Myles Garrett blockbuster trade kicked off speculation that Donald would return to his former team simply to play with the star and take a chance at earning another Super Bowl. One insider offered his opinion, and Rams fans should like what they hear.
In a statement made on the Adam Schefter Podcast in a video clip posted on X on Tuesday, Schefter was candid about his thoughts on whether Donald would return.
“Everybody is acknowledging that it is a possibility, and the fact that it is even a possibility in June tells me that I think there’s every possibility it will become more real in July, and I think if and when they present a plan to him as to how he would be used, I think it’s more likely than not that he’ll be back,” he said.
Donald’s last snap for the Rams was at the end of the 2023 season. Since then, the Rams have played two seasons without the superstar pass rusher. Now 35 years old, the momentum appears to be building for a return.
Aaron Donald’s Final Season With Rams Suggests Expectations For Potential Return
Above all, the question is whether Aaron Donald could still help the Rams. At 35, Donald is well within the retirement window in which others have been forced to walk away due to slowing down.
However, some stars have the staying power to stick to the edge of 40. Former Saints star Cameron Jordan produced 10.5 sacks in 2025 at 36 years old. Calais Campbell earned 6.5 sacks at 39 years old for the Arizona Cardinals in 2025.
Donald, who earned eight sacks in his final season with Los Angeles, has a strong case that he could put up similar numbers. Paired with Myles Garrett, he might have the least amount of attention from offensive linemen that he has had at any point in his career.
At this point, Donald might be thinking about the right time to pick his moment and how much to ask for, because there appears to be plenty of appetite from fans and insiders for the move.
