Riley Moss Contract: Looking at Denver Broncos CB’s Earnings

Riley Moss’s first three seasons in the NFL have been a resounding success, with the player becoming a staple of the Denver Broncos defense. In particular, over the last two seasons, he has turned into an outstanding starter, building upon his standout college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Moss is still on his rookie four-year contract, which is set to end this 2026 season. The deal is worth some $5.45 million and has an average annual value of $1.36 million.

His signing bonus at the time was $961,808, which is the exact amount of money from the contract that was guaranteed. His base salary for 2026 is set to be $3,674,000, and his cap hit is around $3,914,452.

He was selected 83rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, during the third round. This is a standard contract for a player chosen at that position. He was coming off a highly decorated college career, with two First Team All-Big Ten selections (2021, 2022) and having been named the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year in 2021.

Riley Moss Outperformed his Salary in 2025 Season

The NFL Performance-Based Pay program looks to reward players who are performing above what was expected from their contract, handing out bonuses on the basis of how much time they played. A league press release describes it as follows:

“The Performance-Based Pay program is a collectively bargained benefit that compensates all players based upon their playing time and salary levels.

“Under the Performance-Based Pay program, a fund is created and used as a supplemental form of player compensation based upon a comparison of playing time to salary,” the NFL said. “Players become eligible to receive a bonus distribution in any regular season in which they play at least one official down. In general, players with higher playtime percentages and lower salaries benefit most from the pool.”

Denver Broncos cornerback Riley Moss was among the biggest winners of the program for the 2025 season, receiving the 12th-highest bonus handed out by the program. He basically doubled his earnings from his base salary of last season, earning $1,136,103. His base salary last year was $1,245,226.

Now the Broncos will have to see if they’re able to sign Moss to an extension, or whether they use the last year of his contract as a trading card on the open market. Regardless, it’s safe to say he’s a hot commodity.
