Rashee Rice has once again found himself facing the courtroom amid new allegations, this time coming from his ex-girlfriend Dacoda Jones. News of the civil lawsuit that landed at the feet of the Kansas City Chiefs receiver broke almost exactly seven months after news broke that he was sentenced to jail time due to his role in an unrelated multi-car crash in 2024.
Amid the new drama, Rice’s ex-girlfriend posted a message on Instagram to her two-year-old son, including a collage of pictures. Jones’ “happy birthday” message centered around her and Rice’s son turning two years old, per a TMZ in a Thursday report.
“How are you already two?! My sweet face where is time going 🥹 my spark of energy, my bundle of joy, you complete me in every day Happy Birthday baby boy mama lovessss you 🫶,” Jones posted.
The collage included six photos of the son and had no mention of the ongoing lawsuit that one day her son might stumble across.
The ongoing lawsuit alleges Rice carried out a domestic assault on Jones. Jones filed a civil complaint in which she asked for $1 million in damages, per TMZ via a Wednesday Fox News report.
Rashee Rice Receives First Realistic Chance To Improve In 2026
Due to Rashee Rice’s legal troubles in the 2025 offseason, the Chiefs receiver was suspended six games to start the 2025 season, effectively capping his ability to produce a winning argument for upcoming negotiations. The suspension was the result of the multicar crash the previous offseason in 2024, an incident that left Rice accused of a collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway, causing bodily injury.
While Rice was punished first by the NFL, the receiver pleaded guilty to the charges in January. The resulting 30 days of jail time is flexible, and five years of probation will seemingly have little effect on his ability to participate in the NFL.
In 2026, barring any changes, Rice is set to have his first full season of action since 2023, when he saw action in 16 games. If Rice can have perfect attendance with 17 games of action, it would be his first such season in his NFL career.
With contract negotiations and his future in the league likely to be decided by what he does in 2026, the season could be make-or-break for the receiver. It now appears he will need to juggle the latest accusations stemming from his ex-girlfriend with his NFL duties.
