Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is facing legal trouble as he’s being sued by his ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones. Rice joined the Chiefs in 2023 as their second-round, 55th overall pick in the draft.
He set the record for most postseason receptions by a rookie with 26 and became a Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs. While his on-field brilliance has made him a household name, Rice has gotten into trouble several times off the field.
Dacoda Nichole Jones, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two kids, is suing him for $1,000,000. Jones has filed a lawsuit in district court, and as per the court documents obtained by TMZ, the allegations are very serious.
Jones has stated Rice’s pattern of abuse from December 2023 to July 2025, detailing his actions.
“Rashee Rice’s longtime partner and mother of his children has filed an explosive lawsuit against the NFL star, accusing him of choking, strangling, scratching, hitting, and headbutting her over a nightmare 19-month period,” TMZ reported.
The lawsuit claims that Rice continued to assault Jones over the course of their relationship. She was subjected to “other violent and abusive behaviors” as well, such as throwing things at her, punching walls, and breaking furniture.
Jones has detailed her suffering and has stated that Rice’s abuse caused her “bleeding, swelling, bruising, and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest, and shoulder.”
She has also revealed that most of the abusive instances happened when she was pregnant with his kids. This isn’t the first time Jones has come forward with allegations against the Chiefs’ wide receiver.
Rashee Rice and the Domestic Violence Allegations
In January 2026, Dacoda Jones claimed that she was abused by the Chiefs star throughout their eight-year relationship. She dropped these claims on Instagram, stating that she had to suffer these instances while being pregnant and was locked out of her home in freezing temperatures.
After the allegations started spreading like wildfire, the Kansas City Chiefs released a statement.
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs said. “We have no further comment at this time.”
The NFL also released a statement saying they’ve been in contact with the franchise and are investigating the matter. This time, the issue hasn’t only resurfaced, but Jones has decided to take the legal route herself.
