Rashan Gary, one season after watching the Green Bay Packers trade for Micah Parsons, is moving on. The pass rusher initially announced in a post on Instagram in a dedicated post with an extended statement.
According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Gary declared that “like all chapters in life, this one has come to an end.”
The post was deleted, but according to Adam Schefter in a follow-up post, Green Bay appears to be potentially looking to trade Gary first.
Regardless of the method, with every ending comes a new beginning. After earning at least 7.5 sacks in four of his last five seasons, Gary is likely to find a landing spot in the coming weeks.
Here’s a look at some of the logical options for Gary if he is to be released.
Rashan Gary Landing Spots That Make Sense
Kansas City Chiefs
It was clear that Micah Parsons’ presence was a big boost for Rashan Gary, which means his next landing spot will need a quality pass rusher to soak up double-teams. The Chiefs have Chris Jones, who could help set up Gary in what will be an age 32 season for Jones.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are attempting to rebuild its pass rush after moving on from Micah Parsons and have already made a dent by adding Quinnen Williams. However, Williams alone is likely not enough. Adding Gary could unlock a new level for the unit that finished 24th in sacks in 2025.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders already have half of the equation with Maxx Crosby. However, adding Rashan Gary could do two things. First, it could unlock Crosby even further or give Gary a Micah Parsons-like boost he enjoyed in Green Bay. Second, it could settle down Crosby by making his job easier, as he has been rumored to want to move on from Las Vegas.
New York Giants
The New York Giants might be one quality pass rusher away from having one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. Abdul Carter had 23 quarterback hits, which means one step faster could have resulted in sacks. Rashan Gary’s presence on the defensive line could be enough to weaken the protection to give Carter that extra step.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers should feel desperate because the team finished 32nd in sacks in 2025. While Nick Bosa’s return should inspire some level of confidence, San Francisco shouldn’t stop there. Adding Rashan Gary in addition to Bosa’s return could jump the pass rush into the top-15 overnight.
