Taylor Decker Landing Spots: 5 Teams That Could Sign Former Lions LT

With NFL teams continuing to make roster cuts ahead of free agency, another tackle has joined free agency with the Detroit Lions parting ways with former first round pick, Taylor Decker.

Contract talks broke between the two with Decker getting his request for a release granted. He was set to carry a $21 million cap hit for this season, and it’s likely the Lions approached him about taking a pay cut.

Decker has started 140 career games and has been in the NFL since 2016. He earned his first Pro Bowl nod two seasons ago in 2024.

5 Landing Spots For Taylor Decker

With Taylor Decker surprisingly joining free agency, he will have a handful of teams interested in having him join their offensive line. Here’s five potential landing spots for Decker:

    #1 – Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns knew they needed to get better at the tackle position this offseason and released Jedrick Wills and traded for Tytus Howard. They’ll need to add another tackle and could do so with Decker.

    #2 – Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are moving on from starting left tackle Jawaan Taylor after three seasons. Taylor signed a big four-year, $80 million contract at the time and underperformed. Maybe the Chiefs get Decker for a little cheaper this late into his career as they look for a new tackle.

    #3 – Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones said the Dallas Cowboys will continue to be spend in free agency. Tyler Guyton was one of the worst tackles last season and they could easily upgrade by replacing him with a veteran like Decker.

    #4 – Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers will have to find a replacement for emerging tackle Rasheed Walker if he leaves in free agency. Decker could be a replacement and if he wants to play his former team twice a season, he could have the chance to do so with Green Bay.

    #5 – Arizona Cardinals

Jonah Williams is set to hit free agency next week and the Arizona Cardinals must find a replacement. Adding Decker could provide some veteran leadership for the line who will be protecting a new quarterback this season.
