Terrion Arnold was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of kidnapping, one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Arnold has denied the allegations. He appeared in court shortly after the arrest and was seen wearing a green anti-suicide smock, which comes as a standard protocol for “high-risk” detainees.
Emmanuel Acho was one of the analysts who made their feelings clear on Arnold’s arrest during the Thursday edition of his talk show, “Speakeasy.” Acho criticized the Lions cornerback’s decision-making, saying:
“Terrion Arnold, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, and you’re about to win the biggest, dumbest prize that a human can win. Congratulations. It’s one thing to conspire against an individual. It’s another thing to get caught conspiring against an individual. It’s another thing to be on FaceTime while conspiring against individuals who ultimately didn’t even rob you. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes, and you’re about to have to pay the stupid tax.”
Arnold was accused of orchestrating the kidnapping after he allegedly got valuables worth up to $200,000 stolen from him during his stay at an Airbnb, according to a report from the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office.
The co-defendants apparently “lured” the three alleged victims to an apartment where they were beaten up in response to robbing Arnold.
Terrion Arnold’s Hearing Date Set
After his virtual appearance in court on Thursday, Arnold was ordered to remain in custody without bail, and a pre-trial detention hearing was scheduled for Monday, June 29, at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Judge J. Logan Murphy, overseeing the proceedings, stated:
“Mr. Arnold, because you’ve been arrested on six dangerous crimes under section 907.0415A, first-degree felonies categorized as dangerous crimes and punishable by life in prison, you are going to be held at no bond on those charges until we can have a hearing on the state’s motion for pre-trial detention.”
Arnold’s representation maintains his innocence. However, their request to hand over the testimonies of the two co-defendants before Monday’s hearing was denied.
“You’re not entitled to any discovery before a pre-trial detention hearing,” Murphy responded. “If you’d like to re-raise that with the judge who’s handling the hearing, I’ll be happy to address that. I’m going to deny that request at this time.”
Arnold potentially faces life in prison if he’s convicted of the charges against him.
