Legendary Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, who is married to Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Owens, has revealed she was “almost dying” earlier this week. She admitted to suffering a health scare and opened up about it in an Instagram story.
“I’m not one to normally share on things like this because I value privacy in today’s age, but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” she wrote. “This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.”
She also revealed that since the health scare, she had been resting and explained what really happened to those close to her. She then thanked everyone who checked in and visited her during that time. So far, the exact medical emergency has not been revealed and may not be made public, given that Simone Biles is a private person.
Whatever the emergency was, her husband, Jonathan Owens, could not have been there for her as team practices with the Colts had already started. It is not clear if he rushed back home from Indianapolis to be with her.
Simone Biles has seven Olympic gold medals, two silvers and three bronzes, as well as 23 World Championship gold medals, four silvers and three bronzes, making her one of the most decorated gymnasts in history.
Simone Biles Has A History of Health Scares
While Simone Biles is considered one of the most athletic people on Earth, being able to pull off insane gymnastic feats on the biggest stage, she does have a well-documented history of health scares.
During the Paris 2024 Olympics, she revealed that she had collapsed while taking the elevator in the Olympic Village and was sick for 10 days. She still brought home three gold medals and a silver, though.
She also noted that she had been feeling aches and pains for three days after sprinting with some friends but is still planning to come back to the sport.
