Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is facing multiple felony charges for an alleged robbery and kidnapping plot. While the case has left the football world in shock, YouTuber MattBeGreat urged fans not to rush to judgment and spoke about Arnold’s reputation before coming to the NFL.
Arnold surrendered on June 24 and is facing kidnapping and armed robbery charges, which could carry a potential life sentence if he is convicted. As per the Detroit Free Press, Arnold was the primary conspirator in a revenge plot following the theft of more than $250,000 worth of cash and valuables from an Airbnb he had rented earlier this year.
As news of the arrest spread, college football YouTuber MattBeGreat shared his thoughts on X, talking about Arnold’s high school days.
“Thoughts on Terrion Arnold Situation. I’ve covered him dating back to high school. I find it very odd because He had a great relationship with Nick Saban’s wife, Miss Terry. Which tells you Nick Saban and others thought highly of him. I heard nothing but good things about Arnold while at Bama,” he wrote.
He also acknowledged that the allegations are serious and urged followers not to jump to conclusions.
“But one thing I’ve learned in this life is sometimes good people can make bad decisions/choices. Unfortunately that seems to be the case here. Will be interesting to see this play out. Remember folks, innocent until proven guilty. That is all,” the YouTuber wrote.
Legal Process Continues for Lions Cornerback
According to prosecutors, Terrion Arnold allegedly believed several individuals were involved in stealing his belongings and that associates lured three men to an apartment, where they were allegedly assaulted, held at gunpoint and interrogated. Investigators later stated that the victims had no connection to the original theft.
The Detroit Lions have acknowledged the situation but have declined to comment further.
“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold,” a spokesperson for the team said. “We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
NFL star Sauce Gardner also expressed his concern for Arnold, saying:
“TA is a good kid & this situation shouldn’t define him. He young. His daughter just got brought into the world. What his daughter gon’ do without her dad in her life?”
Arnold remains in custody awaiting a pretrial detention hearing, which will be held on Monday, June 29. No trial date has been announced, as the Lions cornerback continues to deny all allegations.
